Biography

Philip La Rosa’s love for music started young—learning dance moves from music videos and performing for family. That early spark grew into a lifelong passion, rooted in pop and storytelling. After leaving performing arts school at 15 due to bullying, he stepped away from the spotlight. At 19, he began writing and releasing music on his own terms, using his voice to share light, truth, and LGBTQ+ representation.

His 2016 debut EP Strong introduced him to a growing audience, with Pride becoming an anthem for self-expression. He teamed up with ARIA-winning producer Taka Perry on tracks like Drowning (supporting Mental Health Day) and Fable, blending personal stories with infectious pop energy. Working with LA producer Nick Kandler, he released Paradise, capturing the rush of fearless love, and followed with Baggage, embracing vulnerability with confidence.

In a full-circle moment, Philip reunited with The Banton Brothers to reimagine Edge of Greatness from his first EP. The new version, The Impossible, marked the close of one chapter and the beginning of a more introspective and emotionally charged era.

That new chapter is being written in collaboration with Perth-based producer Nic Rollo. The two have formed a creative partnership grounded in trust, experimentation, and shared vision—already crafting a catalogue of over 20 songs. This next era of music leans further into emotional honesty and sonic depth, reflecting both personal growth and artistic freedom.

The shift came to life in Bittersweet, a brooding exploration of conflicted love, and most recently Blueprints—a striking portrayal of friendship turned heartbreak. Built on haunting metaphors and raw emotion, the track maps the ruins of trust and connection, capturing the ache of betrayal with poetic precision.

Through every release, Philip brings clarity to complicated emotions. His music invites listeners to sit with the pain, find strength in the cracks, and move forward—one honest lyric at a time.
