The Impossible Lyrics

I spent so many nights
Wresting the dark
Never thought that I would reach
The dreams inside my heart
No voice, no song
No tune to hum along
No story I thought anyone would read

I would look into the mirror and scream out
Is there anybody out there like me

Standing on the edge of greatness
Looking back on all that I’ve done
If I jump now, will I make it
Or should I step back and run
I learn from my mistakes, yeah
Gathered a penny for my thoughts
I can reach, I can reach
The impossible

Now I made up my mind
Gotta make the most of this life
You’ll always find a reason to hide
But you gotta say, bring on the fight
One chance, one life
One shot into the night
One heart that knows what it believes

I know right now life don’t feel like how I want it to be
Is there anybody out there like me

Standing on the edge of greatness
Looking back on all that I’ve done
If I jump now, will I make it
Or should I step back and run
I learn from my mistakes, yeah
Gathered a penny for my thoughts
I can reach, I can reach
The impossible

Is there anybody out there like me
Is there anybody out there like me

Might seem impossible
But you gotta look another way
Every day was impossible
until I stepped it up to the edge of greatness

Looking back on all that I’ve done
If I jump now, will I make it
Or should I step back and run
I learn from my mistakes, yeah
Gathered a penny for my thoughts
I can reach, I can reach
The impossible

Recorded and produced in Sydney by The Banton Brothers, and co-written by Philip La Rosa and the Banton Brothers, “The Impossible” marks a powerful return for the Fremantle-based singer-songwriter after a three-year hiatus from music.

Following nearly a decade of music releases, Philip La Rosa stepped away from the spotlight in 2022, confronting a creative disconnect and questioning his artistic direction. What began as a farewell album made up of unreleased material turned into a creative awakening. Through reconnecting with collaborators, including writers, poets, composers, and fellow musicians, La Rosa rekindled his passion for music and storytelling. This journey of rediscovery culminated in the emotionally rich and sonically vibrant new single, The Impossible.

Reuniting with his original collaborators, The Banton Brothers, La Rosa reimagined a previously shelved track, injecting it with newfound depth and resonance. The result is a bold and intimate single that reflects his evolution as an artist and a person.

Musically, “The Impossible” blends contemporary pop, RnB, and electronic influences, echoing artists like Ruel, Troye Sivan, and Sam Fischer, while also appealing to fans of Lauv, Conrad Sewell, Shawn Mendes, and G Flip. With sleek production, layered synths, and emotionally driven lyrics, the track explores themes of reinvention, resilience, and heartfelt honesty.

Dark, soulful, and sonically optimistic, The Impossible is both a farewell to the past and a bold statement of what’s to come. It represents the closing of a chapter in La Rosa’s musical journey, and the opening of a new era of expression, creativity, and empowerment.

As a proud voice within the LGBTQIA+ community, Philip La Rosa continues to use his platform to amplify themes of mental health, identity, and authenticity. “The Impossible” is more than just a song—it’s a symbol of transformation, hope, and the power of returning to your roots.

With new music on the horizon, The Impossible signals La Rosa’s rebirth as an artist unafraid to embrace vulnerability and shine in his truth.
